Updating Your Meta Description for SEO.

The purpose of a meta description for your page is simple: to get someone searching on Google to click your link. In other words, meta descriptions are there to generate click-through from search engines. In the graphic below everything highlighted in Red is a Meta Description.


How to change or update a Meta Description:
Make sure you are logged in. Here is a guide on how to do that if you aren't sure.
Once you are logged in Click on the logo in the upper left corner.
You will see the front of your website. Find the page you want to edit.
Click on the Edit Page button in the top left corner.
Once there click on Title and Meta under the page title.
Type your New Meta Description into the box titled SEO Boosting Page Summary
Click Save



3 Meta Description Tips:

Keep it up to 155 characters
The Meta description only display about 155 characters. So try to keep your message around that length. You can Google search gyms around you and ones you like to see examples of Meta Descriptions.

Use active voice and make it actionable.
Make it inviting and exciting. Tell people what you are doing and how they can get started. Use that Meta description to draw them in and click on your link.

Use that description to tell more about what makes your gym unique.
Tell people what you are selling. Is your class a bootcamp or an Olympic Weightlifting class? Or do you call it weightlifting but its more of a circuit class? These are both great classes but typically 2 different types of people
